What Foods Should Diabetics Include In Their Diet?

Diet is very important when you have diabetes. Proper diet helps control high blood sugar in diabetes as well as pre-diabetes patients. Tomato juice

Drink every morning on an empty stomach with a pinch of salt and pepper in 1 cup of tomato juice.

Soaked almonds

Consuming 6 almonds daily (soaked in water overnight) is also helpful in controlling diabetes.


Use at least one gram of cinnamon in your meal every day for a month. Eating cinnamon every day will lower your blood sugar. It will also help you to control your weight.


Carbohydrates and proteins are found in a good amount in milk, and it also controls blood sugar. Therefore, drink two glasses of milk daily.

High fiber vegetables

Include high fiber vegetables like peas, beans, broccoli, spinach, and leafy vegetables in your diet. Similarly, lentils and sprouts are also a healthy option.


Basil leaves have antioxidant properties. Therefore, these basil leaves are helpful for insulin. If you eat two to three leaves of basil daily on an empty stomach or drink one teaspoon of basil juice daily, it helps in reducing your diabetes.

Curry Leaves

Curry leaves have bitterness which is fatal for diabetes. So if you eat curry leaves every day, you will benefit from it. It is beneficial for controlling sugar in the body.


Lentils are very important for your diet because it affects blood glucose levels compared to other carbohydrate-rich foods. Similarly, fiber helps in keeping blood sugar level low, so include fiber-rich vegetables in your diet and be healthy.

Omega 3 Fatty Acid

Fats like omega-3 and mono-saturated fats should be consumed as it is good for health. For this, natural sources such as flaxseed oil, fatty fish, and almond oil should be used. These oils have low cholesterol and also do not contain Trans fat.

Green Tea

Green tea has antioxidant properties. This helps in reducing the amount of sugar in the body and keeping its level under control. So drink green tea at least once a day. It also helps with weight loss.

Fiber fruits

Fruits like papaya, apple, orange, pear, and guava should be consumed as they contain a good amount of fiber. And fruits like mangoes, bananas, and grapes should be consumed less because there is more sugar in them.

Amla juice

Amla is a good medicine for diabetes. To reduce diabetes you need to mix 2 grams of turmeric powder in 10 grams of amla juice. Mix it and drink this mixture twice a day. This helps control blood sugar.


Although clove is a type of spice, it is useful for diabetics. If you eat a clove of clove every day, it will help you to control your diabetes.


Neem has anti-diabetic properties. So neem is a great treatment for diabetes. Even if you chew neem leaves every day, your blood sugar stays under control.

Bitter Gourd

Bitter gourd juice is considered to be the best treatment for diabetes. Although this juice is very bitter, it is very helpful for people with diabetes. Drinking a glass of this bitter gourd juice every morning keeps your body sugar under control.

Avoid sweets

A diabetic patient should eat a diet that is low in carbohydrates, high fiber, and those containing protein, vitamins, and minerals and should avoid fatty foods and sweets. Along with this, they should have a small meal 5 times a day. What should be done? Artificial sweets can be used in cakes and sweets for people with diabetes.

Eat small intervals

Eating more food at a time will increase the blood sugar level in the body. Therefore, eat food in small intervals so that you do not have high blood sugar levels at once. 

Drink hot water

You may be surprised to read this. But hot water is also a good treatment. Drink about two glasses of hot water on an empty stomach after waking up in the morning or even if you drink hot water every one to two hours, it helps to lower your blood sugar.

Should you eat non-veg?

In the non-vegetarian diet, seafood and chicken should be eaten and red meat (red meat) should be avoided as it contains high levels of saturated fat. Also, high cholesterol patients should avoid egg yolk and red meat.
