Cookbook Review and GIVEAWAY!

Food allergy families can use all the cooking and baking books they can use, right? Since that’s the case,  I was excited when Debbie, the author of Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats, contacted me to review her new book and do a giveaway.  I’ve been wanting to do a giveaway for a long while now, so it was perfect timing.  I think you’ll like this baking book full of bright, vivid photography that displays the delicious looking baked goods.


The recipes in the book are free of gluten, eggs, dairy, soy, sugar, and nuts making them treats without the fuss of allergies or unhealthy refined sugar.   How do you bake without all those ingredients that normally come in bakery foods?  Don’t worry, she gives you a run down on page 2 of all of the special ingredients that make these muffins and such a possibility.  Chapter 2 is the “How To” chapter of techniques and some basic recipes like homemade Sunflower Seed Butter (you can also use Sunbutter) and All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour Mix.  Debbie even tells you what tools you’ll need, which are mostly standard baking sheets and muffin tins, but also a few different things like a coffee grinder or potato ricer for a few recipes.  At first, the specialty ingredients were a bit of a turn off, but Debbie also includes 2 pages of resources on where to order some of the not-so-common ingredients.
