The words ‘gluten free’ are practically nonexistent in the Italian language. My absolute favorite Italian dish is my grandmother’s recipe for spaghetti bolognese so I’ve modified our family secret in order to still enjoy an incredibly tasty dish and all of the nostalgia that comes with it.

  • Ingredients: 1 lb. Lean Ground Beef
1/2 c. Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional)
28 oz. can Peeled Plum Tomatoes (Plain, Unsalted)
    15 oz. can Tomato Sauce
    1/4 c. canned Tomato Paste
1 lb. Gluten Free Linguine (Quinoa or Brown Rice Pasta)
    2 tbsp. Natvia (Natural Sweetener)
    1 tsp. Sea Salt
    1 tsp. Black Pepper
1 tsp. Garlic Salt or 4 cloves Fresh Garlic
    1 tsp. Onion Powder
    2 tsp. Parsley
1 tsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Serves: 6
  • Cuisine: European - Italian
  • Cooking method: Boil/blanch/poach
  • Special ingredients: no dried fruits, no fresh / raw fruits that don't get cooked by the end of the recipe, no fermented / pickled foods, no seeds, no beans / legumes / pulses, no alcohol
  • Just right for...: Great for kids, Elegant evenings, Crowds/parties, Comfort food, Fall favorites, Winter favorites
  • Top 8 allergens?: gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, fish-free, shellfish-free, nut-free, peanut-free
  • Active/prep time: 0-15 minutes
  • Total time (inc active/prep): 90-120 minutes
  • Substitution ideas: DAIRY: The Parmesan cheese is optional, in order to make it dairy free. I can tolerate dairy in small quantities, so I sprinkle a little cheese on top of the bolognese to add to the authenticity of the dish and to enjoy it just like I remember!
  • Serving suggestions: Any suggestions for what would go well with your dish?
