Dairy - why I don't eat it and how this can help you

I am a big believer in a balanced healthy diet that incorporates all of the five food groups, which includes dairy products or alternatives. Our dietary guidelines stress the importance of dairy products in a healthy diet because they are the best source of calcium, and are a good source of many other essential nutrients. Calcium is important for bone strength and if you don’t consume enough on a regular basis then your risk of developing osteoporosis later in life increases considerably. While dairy foods are the most readily available source of calcium in the Australian diet, some people have difficulty tolerating dairy products and so are unable to incorporate them in their diet.
