Pumpkin-Pie-In-A-Glass (Jack O' Lantern Grins for Custom Eating)

It's cold in New England.  Snow will soon be stick-stick-sticking, and sticking again. It's rather cold for smoothies.  Though I've been making my share of smoothies all the same -- there's little easier to toss together gluten-free and whole-food-fast than a smoothie.  (Not to mention, because of the ease of nutritional additions, smoothies are a great go-to: they provide meal supplements for healthy weight gain, or snacks for celiac-athlete recovery that's easily digestible.)

But it's cold. .

Cold.  Anything that switches things up makes for excellent opportunity to innovate.  And what's better for getting into the rhythm of Fall, and school for little or big ones (elementary or grad school, in some ways, they aren't so very different as it relates to the crunch of transitioning) -- what's better than a soothing glass of warm pie?

So Pumpkin-Pie-in-a-Glass was born.

I've taken my MRM Veggie Elite and Garden of Life Raw protein powders, and with a bit of tinned organic pumkpin, organic non-dairymilk, and spices, paired with a sauce-pan, I made a glass of pumpkin pie.

It's bloody brilliant, and oy yes, it tastes like pie: drinkable pie.  Gluten free pie. 

Do try this little bloke at home.  Serve to parties. Whip up for the little ones when they trek in from school, or in the morning before it. Or sip after a workout or at the end of a long day.  It's nourishing both to the senses and the body.

PUMPKIN PIE IN A GLASS  [ dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free (opt) ]

[serves 2]

1/4 cup non-dairy milk (I've used both So Delicious Unsweetened Vanilla Coconut Milk, and West Soy Organic Soy Milk)
1/2 tin Organic Pumpkin puree
1 heaping teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 tsp powdered ginger
1/2 -1 scoop Vanilla Raw Fit Protein (Garden of Life Raw)
(or alternately) 1 scoop MRM Vanilla Bean Veggie Elite Protein
water + non-dairy milk to adjust consistency

Serve with cinnamon toast to get the crusty-crunch missing from crustlessness!  Canyon Bakehouse 7 Grain makes bloody brilliant cinnamon toast -- dash or spritz a bit of vanilla extract on it for gourmet edge and flavor.

I've been sipping or spoon-fulling this one solid for a month now.  It's also a wonderful drink to add to a child's bedtime routinenutritionally, especially if you've got a little one recovering from digestive ills.
