Newsletter: Our journey to create a really, really big tent for all custom eaters

Dear *|FNAME|*,

This week I had the opportunity to attend a presentation at my son's school about food allergies and intolerances.  Watching as the moms and dads around me reeled with reactions ranging from overwhelmed to disbelieving to border-line panic, I was reminded of what a long journey my own family has been on, and how far we've come.

But I was also reminded of all the reasons our family decided to start freedible.  For one, because the spectrum of ways that the human body can react to a food is such a very broad rainbow - yet the available information tends to be as narrow as a flashlight.  Because whichever naturally-occurring element in organically-farmed foods you react to, you still have to learn the same limbo skills to pull it off in a mono-food world.  Because whatever the reason why you can no longer eat your favorite fill-in-the-blank, you still have to find a way to cook dinner.  And because if we all come together in one big tent then we can gain a bigger social voice, making it easier for all of us individually.

So please, if you haven't visited our site in a while, take a look around.  Let us know what information you find helpful, and what you'd like to see us bump to the top of our priority list.  We look forward to your feedback on how we can best make freedible meet all our needs.

Happy Eating,
Cheryl

Nothing makes kids as happy as pancakes- even when they are allergen-free

Allergen-free pancakes make the world go round

Pancakes have come to play a big role in our household: an act of love, a Norman Rockwell family moment, a promise of 'normalcy' for a family with complicated food restrictions -- and of course a great vehicle for maple syrup.  In fact, we realized that they're a big part of our restricted-diet survival strategy.
