For me, Father's Day has always been a day of many models. As some of you have read on freedible before, I was blessed to grow up with two dads - and they could not have been more different. Each with their own pet peeves, dreams and joys - for themselves, and for me and my siblings.
Last January, we lost my step-father to pulmonary fibrosis, and just a few weeks ago I found myself racing the four hours north to be at my Dad's side while he waited for an emergency pacemaker. He's okay now, and I hope I'll be lucky enough to have his guidance for several more years. You can read my tribute to them here.
But it got me to thinking about the many models for "Dad" out there - and the equally numerous models for how we celebrate him. So this week, we thought we'd share a little inspiration from our community, through some of the "can-do" tips, stories and dad-approved recipes our members have shared to help make sure food restrictions don't get in the way of toasting Dad as you see fit.
